BLDG 28 Church has been a continuous project for several years, starting from the ground up with the logo and really building an entire brand around that logo and style. In the time since we began the work on the B28 brand, the church has grown from 40 people to over 600 and the numbers continue to grow. Building on that original brand, I’ve worked through everything from an interactive website to marketing materials, SEO work, signage, custom type, apparel, social media work, and more. It’s truly been a pleasure to work alongside this church and be a part of the growth and see the direct correlation to the design and marketing work that we’ve done.

The Challenge
An early challenge for me right out of the gate was the palm tree. The church had used an early iteration of a palm tree and wanted to stick with that as their focal point, so I had to sketch some ideas up and work around that original image. From there we really began from the ground up, building and then redesigning the website a little further in, adding in marketing materials, all types of print collateral, sermon graphics, signage and more along the way.



The Answer
I worked with the palm tree idea, eventually shaping it into the icon that is today and building a modern type face around it to balance out the grungy feel of the tree and box. With the website, we designed and built something that is modern and responsive – set up as a custom WordPress theme for the BLDG 28 Church staff to update and post events and write-ups. From there I designed four icons to symbolize the four themes of the church (Belief, Love, Disciple, and Glorify) and used those icons as a type of branding as well, carrying them through the decor of the church, the website, print materials and more.

Website Design
With the website we wanted to do something that showcased who the church is, what they’re all about, and how inviting and modern the atmosphere feels, and yet keep it as a portal for members and church-goers with features such as sermon videos, upcoming events, news and blog posts and more. In addition to that, we needed a website that would serve to work well across all platforms. What we did was design a WordPress website for this Clearwater, Florida based church that would meet all of those needs yet continue to be expanded on as the church grows and additional features are needed.

Sermon Graphics
Having a continued working relationship with BLDG 28 Church to work on sermon promotional graphics has been a lot of fun and continues to keep us involved with B28 in Clearwater, Florida. Getting hands on with the staff to match up the sermon graphics that I design with things like promotional bumper videos, print materials for services and marketing items for distribution in the community keeps us pretty involved and makes the BLDG 28 brand a church brand that is constantly evolving.



Print Collateral
I continue to work on print collateral for BLDG 28 Church on an ongoing basis. From their marketing materials, sermon promo materials, connection cards, outreach pamphlets and more. I work to make things unique and interesting yet keep the brand integrity in place with all print materials.
