So I started on this new project a few weeks ago – it’s a Food Blog for a local, Atlanta area chef who has a cookbook coming out next month as well. My work for her will include a logo, print materials and collateral, and her food blog. First things first for Sweeter Roots – development of the branding: logo, colors, etc.
As an Atlanta logo designer, it’s my job to put together comps and ideas based on the client’s thoughts and instruction, but to at times take certain license as well. So, with this job I created a series of logo comps based on certain vegetables and foods, and in the end the client loved the one that I did with two carrots. Working on an Atlanta logo design I endeavor to please the client, but often times that means initially giving them what they need rather than what they want.
After some time spent deciding on the perfect type face to accompany the dual carrots, we are off to the races! Now I’m working on a series of business cards and collateral before I jump into designing up some interface comps for the website/blog. Though I do stand alone logo work from time to time, I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of beginning with a logo design and then creating an entire “brand” for the client. This is one of the greatest challenges for an Atlanta web designer, but at the end of the project it’s one of the most rewarding as well.
