When this Nashville area church contacted me, they were looking for something that I find many churches are looking for. They wanted to take a step forward with a modern approach to their look and culture, yet really desired to retain elements of their history and tradition. Striking a balance for them was something I strove for, yet I wanted to push the boundaries of where they thought they needed to be.
Balancing a modern approach with a storied tradition for a Nashville area church.
The real challenge here was building a new brand for a church that has a 200 year old history. How do you keep the history, tradition, and image of 200 years alive and yet bring a church into the 21st century and streamline a modern feel? Their current logo featured the cross along with 4 leaves that stand for the 4 core values of the church, something they desperately wanted to keep/even promote with their new aesthetic.
I kept the core components of their current brand: the cross and the 4 leaves. But what they have now is something that truly showcases their proud heritage yet embraces a more modern style.
